Who provided Doumbouya with his new presidential jet?

Rumours still abound in Guinea about the aeroplane that received a warm welcome from the military junta when it landed on 20 December in Conakry. The aircraft's owner has not been officially named but clues suggest it belongs to the Indian conglomerate Jindal Steel & Power, which has bases in Africa.

Gwede Mantashe's future presents quandary for Ramaphosa

Cyril Ramaphosa owes his re-election as leader of the African National Congress (ANC) in large part to Gwede Mantashe. As a reward, Mantashe wants to stay on as energy minister. This puts the South African president in a bind, as coal-loving Mantashe is opposed to his green energy transition plans.
