Buhari's NNPC board appointees a boon for Tinubu's presidential bid

The new NNPC board of directors has once again given pride of place to those close to the president, who has made sure to put together a team that will please his would-be heir, Bola Tinubu, a candidate in the 2023 election. Buhari has made sure to respect the territorial balance too, as each region is represented.

The transformation of the state-owned NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation) into a commercial company in early 2022, following the adoption of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) at the end of 2021, has led to the renewal of the board of the Nigerian economic giant, whose 11 members are appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
