Why Bazoum's party is in no hurry to find new leader

Under the Nigerien constitution, as the president of his country Mohamed Bazoum cannot also be the chairman of the PNDS, the party that carried him to power in February of last year. But to appoint a new party leader would effectively amount to designating a successor to him as president. For the time being, this is blocking a decision by the party's executive, which has turned to Bazoum's predecessor, Mahamadou Issoufou, for advice. [...]
