Ghazouani tries to maintain 'Mauritanian exception' as Islamist attacks escalate in the region

Mauritania is the only country in the G5 Sahel bloc not to have had an Islamist attack in more than ten years. It is closely monitoring Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist groups operating on its border with Mali.
