Ahead of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Antananarivo, Madagascar's culture minister will be travelling to Paris to recover the skull of King Toera. After being postponed in April, the ceremony for the restitution of Saklava King Toera's sacred remains will in the end take place in the French capital, at the Ministry of Culture, with Rachida Dati and Volamiranty Donna Mara in attendance.

France looks set to return what is believed to be the skull of the Sakalava king Toera, beheaded in 1897 by French colonial troops, more than 20 years after Madagascar first asked for it. It hopes the restitution can coincide with President Macron's visit to the country next year.
