Placed under formal investigation on 27 March after 48 hours in police custody in a sprawling case involving organised money laundering, the Congolese singer has failed, despite attempts by his defence, to secure recognition of diplomatic immunity linked to his passport.

Singer Gims arrested upon arrival in Paris

According to Africa Intelligence's information, the singer, whose real name is Gandhi Djuna, was arrested while passing through customs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport on 25 March. He is implicated in an investigation being led by the French authorities involving a network of financial criminals specialising in the laundering of illicit funds.
