Development finance institutions help Amethis set up its new MENA fund

Rather than financing companies directly themselves, development banks often prefer to allocate funds to private investors and to leave it to them to find their partners. This trend has worked in favour of French investment company Amethis, which has set up its Amethis MENA Fund II with backing from the World Bank's IFC and French development institution Proparco.

Tunisia's parliament is expected to soon approve the concession contracts for the construction of five photovoltaic power stations in the south-west of the country worth an estimated $400m. The financial package for the project, which has already got the government green light, has yet to be finalised with international donors.
