Foreign mining companies keen to extend their time in Tigray
With their business stalled by two years of conflict in Tigray, mining companies Newmont, Sun Peak and ANS Exploration are seeking to extend their exploration licences, without however resuming their activities. This is fuelling tension in a region whose economy is struggling to recover from a two-year civil war.
