Attorney General Abubakar Malami, who enjoys particularly close relations with President Buhari, has in less than 10 years become Nigeria's self-proclaimed champion in the battle against the misappropriation of public funds. His role in preventing oil company P&ID from seizing state assets worth $9bn has served as a springboard in this respect and helped him to sideline his main rival.

Oil magnate Benedict Peters banks on lobbyist David Urban to win over Trump

The Nigerian Benedict Peters has retained the services of David Urban, a star lobbyist in Trump's Washington, in the hope of winning the favours of the current occupant of the White House. By cosying up to Trump on his favourite terrain - the trade war against Beijing - Peters is hoping that the president will help him to regain his influence in Nigeria, though he may find himself back at square one if Biden prevails in November.
