Lourenço banks on feminising MPLA in his second term
The Angolan president is beginning his second term at the head of a state whose decision-making bodies have been extensively feminised in recent years. He intends to take this process further and has appointed a woman as vice president and another as parliamentary speaker. The MPLA has put this strategy in place as it believes it must diversify its electorate in order to remain in power.
