Libreville initiates judicial proceedings against oil company Perenco in Paris

The Gabonese government has filed a complaint in France with the financial prosecutor's office regarding allegations of "money laundering and corruption". The grievance, which targets the oil company as well as a lawyer close to the former first lady, Sylvia Bongo, marks a new stage in the conflict between Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and the former president's clan.

Museveni's administration has rejected accusations of a near-total internet shutdown during the election, alongside arrests of political and civil society figures. Despite the European Parliament's firm tone, cooperation between the EU and Uganda is, for now, continuing without visible consequences.
