Political games for Obiang's approval at play in Malabo

In a country with almost no political opposition, elections provide nonetheless a chance to shuffle power and influence within the ruling Partido Democrático de Guinea Ecuatorial (PDGE) party. Regional party heads are holding no bars to win votes in their home turf with rewards of influential postings and favours in mind.

A few days after Roch Marc Christian Kaboré's overthrow, Burkina Faso's public prosecutor Harouna Yoda said the court should soon resurrect the Essakane fine coal affair involving Canadian gold producer Iamgold. By doing so, he was also making a call to the president for funding for the country's courts so that they can function properly.
