Jean-Yves Le Drian's departure is rued from Brazzaville to N'Djamena

Jean-Yves Le Drian was removed as foreign minister in the most recent reshuffle after more than ten successive years in the French government, first at defence and then at foreign affairs. This is a loss for numerous African leaders, for whom the minister from Brittany was their go-to contact in France.

Kenyatta champions devolution with one eye on presidential election

There was a big turnout of allies of the Kenyan president in Kisumu, the country's third largest city, for the pan-African Africities summit. It was one of his last opportunities to score a diplomatic success before the end of his second and final term, as well as a chance to exert his influence on the imminent presidential election.
