Negotiations are intensifying over the highly sensitive issue of autonomy for Western Sahara, but Algerian diplomats are currently keeping quiet about their intentions. The focus is on October, when the UN Security Council will consider the renewal of MINURSO.

With less than two years to go to the elections, this multicultural region in the west of Kenya is divided between the government and the opposition. The government's support of local leaders to appease tensions have not yet had any impact.
