Sassou and African Union try to regain foothold in Libyan affairs

As chairman of the AU's High Level Committee on Libya, the Congolese president has dispatched his foreign minister to the country to oversee mediation efforts. Meanwhile, the pan-African body is lobbying in New York to have one of its candidates chosen to head up the UN support mission.
