Macky Sall banks on DRN intelligence agency to keep 'terrorists' at bay

As jihadist groups intensify their push towards the countries of the Gulf of Guinea, the Senegalese president is banking on the DRN intelligence agency to contain the threat. The DRN, which was caught off guard by major riots last year, is also expected to anticipate any unrest in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election.

The president, who has been on the receiving end of recent tensions between Zimbabwe and South Africa, has bent over backwards to put on a brave face for ZANU-PF leaders in Harare. A rapprochement between Harare and Botswana in the face of a South African feud that is likely to endure.
