The president of DRC is pushing for his country to have a stake in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) through which Uganda's plans to export via Tanzania, despite the fact no crude oil has been discovered on the Congolese side of Lake Albert.

The South African government is worried that a court ruling obliging it to supply electricity to hospitals and schools could pave the way for more lawsuits from victims of the power cuts that have plagued the country for years.
