Already well established in Senegal under Macky Sall's presidency, Turkey continues to advance its interests with the current head of state. From defence to agriculture, the two countries are continuing to build closer ties despite certain financial setbacks.

Gabon President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema unveiled his new government on the first day of the new year. Economy minister and BGFIBank boss Henri-Claude Oyima has been ousted and a new position of vice-president in charge of the executive has gone to Hermann Immongault.
