The arrival of Chinese companies at copper-cobalt deposits in the DRC and Zambia has upset traffic on mineral evacuation routes. They are forcing road transporters to contend with extremely low prices, leaving them no choice but to fight the terms of each new contract and redistribute market shares among the African ports.

With the US presidential election just days away, Harare has appointed a new ambassador to Washington, Tadeous Tafirenyika Chifamba. His first priority will be to tackle the thorny issue of getting American sanctions on his country lifted.
